Those who are in the country are advised to exercise extreme caution and to avoid all demonstrations. Hotels and tour organisers should be in a position to advise of any demonstration.

Cairo airport remains open, but with some disruptions. Intending passengers should contact their airline before going to the airport.

The department and the Embassy are consulting with our European colleagues with a view to maintaining an up-to-date assessment of the situation.

Travellers should be aware that there have been disruptions to phone and internet communications and there are problems with telephone communications to the landline in the Irish Embassy in Cairo.
