ANGER is growing in Ballaghaderreen over An Bord Pleanala's rejection of an appeal against the decision of Roscommon County Council to grant planning permission for a waste recycling plant at the local industrial estate.

A rally, to which local politicians have been invited as well as the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton, and the chief executive of the IDA, Mr Kieran McGowan, will be held in the Town Square on Sunday, April 13th.

Mr Joe Duffy, of the Concerned Residents Action Group, said yesterday that 98 per cent of residents objected to the plant.

Mr Duffy said the plant would become an election issue. "Any party that promises a full and proper inquiry into the matter will have the backing of the people of Ballaghaderreen," he said.
