It could be several weeks before Nenagh's polluted water supply is again fit to drink, and the affected source may have to be abandoned altogether, the Environmental Protection Agency has conceded.
The EPA said there was "no doubt" that a Procter and Gamble cosmetics plant leakage was a factor in the pollution. But "very sensitive testing" of the site is continuing, and the agency is investigating the possibility that effluent from a second factory may also have contributed to the problem.
