ITALY:AFTER THE transatlantic dress-fitting trips, the multiple stag and hen dos, and the days of partying on a hired yacht in the Mediterranean, Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin finally got married yesterday in a traditional English downpour on the Italian Riviera.
Security was tight, as befitted the reported £2.5 million (€3.1 million) paid by OK!magazine for exclusive photos of the 22-year-olds from Croxteth, Liverpool.
Details soon emerged of the tie-less groom, the dozen relatives present, the violin quartet, the white rose petals scattered across silk tablecloths, and the array of candles lit in the same room in which Rod Stewart married Penny Lancaster.
Deputy mayor Gianni Costa, who married the pair in a frescoed room commanding views over a beautiful bay, said he was "a huge football fan.
"I have done plenty of celebrity weddings but I was tremendously emotional," said Costa, who was nearly prevented from carrying out his duties by a burly security man from Burnley.
