Racing: Sunday afternoon's meetings at Cork and Fairyhouse have been abandoned. Cork was hit by significant rainfall overnight and track officials have been left with little option but to call off the card.
The Turf Club's press officer Cliff Noone said: "Cork have had to abandon their meeting as the track is unraceable. They had rain all night so the track is waterlogged."
Fairyhouse, meanwhile, fell due to snow on the track - and has been rescheduled for Tuesday weather permitting.
Snow caused the card to be called off and as the course was unraceable, an 8am inspection will be held on Monday morning.
Should the meeting go ahead, entries will stand and fresh declarations must be made by 10am on Monday.
Noone said: "The course is currently unraceable and an inspection will be held at 8am on Monday to further assess the situation."
Liam Burke, meanwhile, is keeping his fingers crossed Fairyhouse’s rearranged card on Tuesday will be given the green light to allow Thyne Again to take his chance in the Grade Two Normans Grove Chase.
The eight-year-old was a 20-length winner of a Grade Three event at Naas on his seasonal reappearance and he was beaten just five lengths into third by Big Zeb at Leopardstown over Christmas after an interrupted preperation.
Burke was frustrated today’s card had to be cancelled due to snow and is desperate for an improvement in the weather with very few options coming up for his stable star.
“The plan would definitely be to run on Tuesday all being well as we need to run him somewhere,” said Burke.
“If that meeting is off I really don’t know where we would go with him. He could run in the Hennessy at the start of next month but I had wanted to run him before then so we will just have to see.
“The horse is in great nick so I really hope we can get him out on Tuesday.”
