Trouble spots in Dublin this weekend include Harold's Cross Bridge, where roadworks will severely affect peak-time evening traffic.

There are also major restrictions on the Monkstown Road because of roadworks and there are roadworks at Merrion Row, Ballinteer Road and Ballyroan Road in Rathfarnham, Beaver Row, Clon skeagh Road and Gormanstown Road, which has been closed entirely to traffic.

Elsewhere in Dublin, traffic on the Tallaght bypass near the Square has been reduced to a single lane due to repairs to a footbridge. Contraflow systems are in operation on the M50 at Fonthill and on the Lucan bypass between Deadman's Inn junction and the Fonthill junction.

Motorists can expect some delays at Athlone for the next six months, where there are temporary diversions at interchanges on the eastbound carriageway of the Athlone bypass. There are roadworks on the Leitrim stretch of the N16 Sligo-Enniskillen Road, four miles west of Manorhamilton.

For the next two weeks there will be roadworks on the N80 at Ballickmoyler, Co Laois and temporary lights are in operation. Also on the Laois stretch of the N80, the road is closed at Clonshaughey, Portlaoise and alternative routes have been signposted.

In Cork, Maylor Street and Caroline Street will remain closed until the end of this month for pavement works and service renewals. A section of the Killumney/Crossbarry Road will be closed from south of Begley's Forge to the crossroads at Belrose and diversions will be in place.

Part of the Cork/Kinsale Road will be closed between Belgooly and Pewters Cross for roadworks until October 9th. In Waterford, traffic is reduced to single lane on Rice Bridge due to ongoing roadworks.

There are waterworks ongoing on the main Limerick to Foynes road, while roadworks are in progress in Limerick on the Ballinacurra Road (N20) and at Punches Cross.

Rail

Today and tomorrow the 15.55 train from Limerick to Rosslare Europort will operate to Limerick Junction with a bus connection from there to Rosslare. Also today and tomorrow, the 19.40 from Rosslare to Limerick will use a bus connection from Rosslare to Limerick junction, due to engineering works.

On Saturday, a bus connection will operate between Waterford and Thomastown for both the 7.40 and 11.40 trains from Houston to Waterford and the 10.55 and 14.55 trains from Waterford to Houston.

Intercity trains will serve this weekend's race meeting in the Curragh.
