In Dublin, Churchtown Road eastbound from Nutgrove Avenue to Churchtown Road Lower is reduced to single lane traffic. Brewery Road, Stillorgan, is closed because of drainage works. South Avenue is also temporarily closed because of gas works.

Parking on Henry Street is now permitted only between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. No parking will be allowed on South King Street from now until January 1st, 1997.

Sheriff Street is closed until further notice. There are water works on Brunswick Street. Commons Street, near Connolly Station, will be closed all week because of resurfacing work.

The main exit from the Phoenix Park to Conyngham Road has been reduced to one lane because of a new cycle lane. Reconstruction work is taking place from the Shanganagh Road/Dublin Road junction to Quinn's Road. Pipe laying is being carried out on Seafield Road at its junction with Trimleston Road, Booterstown. Well Road, Swords, is closed because of construction work.

Roadworks are taking place on Windmill Road, and Rowan Road, Balbriggan, is closed. The NaulBalbriggan road is closed for construction work.

There are parking restrictions at Dublin Castle until the end of the year because of the EU Presidency.

Work is continuing on High Street, Bow Street, Sheriff Street, Brunswick Street, Jervis Street, and Talbot Street. There is a contraflow on Custom House Quay.

Hudson Road, Glasthule, is closed from the junction with Adelaide Road to Albert Road because of drainage works.

Road improvement work continues on the Naas dual carriageway until July 1997 between Newlands Cross and Rathcoole.

In Cork, there is no entry to Maylor Street from Patrick Street between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions are in place on Magazine Road from College Road to the Glasheen Road/Bandon Road junction. There are roadworks on Modelfarm Road and delays can be expected on the Blarney to Tower Road because of roadworks.

In Galway, there are roadworks on the N17 in Claregalway and on the Kingston Road.

In Donegal, there are roadworks on the N15 at Laghey and on N13 at Kilcross junction.

In Louth, the railway bridge on the Carrick Road in Dundalk is closed, with local diversions.

In Waterford there are roadworks on the N25 on the Waterford side of Lemybrien and on Cork Road near Waterford Crystal. Pipe-laying continues on Lower Grange Road. A section of Ballytrunkle Road is closed and the Feriybank dual carriageway is reduced to one lane.

In Westmeath, short delays are expected on Main Street, Moate, because of pipelaying.

RAIL:

Christmas shopping specials will be provided to Dublin from Cork, Boyle and Waterford on Saturday. The Cork train departs at 07.20 and returns from Heuston Station at 16.50; the Boyle train departs at, 07.55 and leaves Connolly Station at 17.05; the Waterford train departs at 11.40 and leaves Connolly Station at 18.55.

There will be delays on the Dublin Belfast line because of engineering works this weekend.
