Most roadworks have been suspended over the Christmas period, but long-term work will continue to affect some locations. Snowfalls have caused hazardous conditions in many areas.

Dublin

Woodwall Road closure at Barberstown level crossing has been extended until 5 p.m. on January 28th, due to extensive track works. Alternative routes are available.

Continuing work on the South Clondalkin QBC is affecting Werburgh Street, Nicholas Street, Patrick Street, Bride Street, Crumlin Road and Drimnagh Road.

Cork

There are ongoing works at Buttevant on the N20 near the Grotto in Ballybeg. Liberty Street is closed from Cross Street to Courthouse Street, and there is no access from North Main Street.

Lavitt's Quay is reduced to a single lane westbound between St Patrick's Bridge and Christy Ring Bridge. Merchant's Quay is reduced to two lanes.

Westmeath

Roadworks will continue until further notice on the N4 at the Longford end of the Mullingar bypass, with temporary lights in operation.

Kildare

The New Moone-Timolin-Ballitore bypass is now open to all traffic.

Clare

Road realignment works are in place on the R472 Shannon-Newmarket-on-Fergus road. The works are related to the N18 Newmarket-on-Fergus bypass which is being constructed until January 2002.

Kerry

Major roadworks are continuing on the N21 Tralee-Limerick road between Tralee and Castleisland. The work is to continue until June 2001.

Iarnrod Eireann

Christmas and New Year alterations to the regular intercity timetables are in operation until Tuesday, January 2nd.

Bus Eireann

There is a limited service in many areas due to snowfalls, and passengers are advised to contact their local Bus Eireann offices.

Road Deaths

There were six road deaths this week, bringing the total so far this year to 414.
