In Dublin, York Street, between Mercer Street and St Stephen's Green West, will be closed until September 27th for roadworks. Severe delays are expected to continue on the Blackrock bypass as roadworks continue there each weekday after 7 p.m., with cabling work also taking place on Stradbrook Road nearby. Drivers going south should use the Stillorgan Road.
Gas works will continue for the next five weeks on Anglesea Road, between Simmonscourt Road and Merrion Road. Roadworks continue on both Upper and Lower Leeson Street outside peak hours, while delays can be expected in Sandymount village as work continues on the road there. Stocking Lane in Rathfarnham will be closed until December 17th at the interface with the proposed route on the Southern Cross motorway. Drivers are advised to use the Edmonstown Road and Mount Venus Road route instead.
Temporary traffic lights are in place on the New Nangor Road in Clondalkin at the Grange Castle Golf Club where roadworks will be going on for several months. A section of the Blanchardstown road north is closed from its junction with Ballycoolin crossroads until August 15th.
Henry Street and Mary Street will be closed until November 30th with no through traffic allowed except delivery trucks. ESB work continues on the footpath at Jervis Street, near the junction with Mary Street. Work continues on the traffic islands on Lower Dorset Street. Clonliffe Road will be single lane from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Saturday, with Clonliffe Avenue closed until July. Construction work will be taking place on Finglas Road from Harts Corner to Finglas village between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday also.
Similarly on St Mobhi Drive from Mobhi Road and on the Eglinton Road, from the Clonskeagh Road to Brookdale Road.
In Belfast, a bus lane contraflow is in operation on Corporation Street with diversions continuing on Ribble Street, from Newtownwards to Tamar Street, due to building work.
In Cork, bridge construction continues at Lancaster Quay. No traffic or parking is allowed on the right hand side there between the junctions with Little Hanover Street and Woods Street. ESB work means Roman Street and Cathedral Street are one-way from John Street towards the North Cathedral. City-bound traffic is being diverted at the North Cathedral via Gerald Street, O'Connell Street and the Watercourse Road. ESAT Telecom works will be taking place each day on Mardyke Walk and Dyke parade between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Gas works continue on the South Mall, while pipe-laying has commenced on Boreenmanna Road East as part of the Cork Main Drainage Scheme. Traffic in the area will be single lane with temporary traffic lights.
In Limerick, a new N7 traffic route will operate from Lock Quay to Thomond bridge with the opening of the Abbey bridge on the northern relief road. There will also be restrictions on turning at Baal's Bridge and Nicholas Street, with new traffic signals in operation at Athlunkard Street and Island Road.
Road resurfacing work continues at Abbeyleix in Co Laois on the Cork side of the town. Similar work is taking place on the N4 east of Rathowen village in Co Longford with temporary lights, while major delays are expected to continue on the Kinnegad relief road in Co Westmeath. Works there are due to be completed this weekend.
Work on the N2 north of Ardee in Co Louth is continuing, while the Baloo Road in Bangor Co Down is reduced to single lane. In Co Down also there is bridge construction work on the Ballynahinch road in Lisburn, under the motorway bridge.
In Co Waterford, diversions are in operation at Racecourse hill in Tramore.
Those travelling west by rail should note alterations to the Sligo/Dublin/Sligo morning services. They will depart Sligo 20 minutes earlier than stated on the existing timetable with bus transfers between Longford and Mullingar. All services from Dublin will be delayed up to 20 minutes for those travelling to stations between Edgeworthstown and Sligo, with a bus transfer from Mullingar to Longford.
Iarnrod Eireann's summer timetable comes into operation next Sunday with the introduction of extra services on Saturdays departing Tralee at 9.30 a.m. and Heuston for Tralee at 1.40 p.m. An extra weekday service from Rosslare will leave for Limerick at 7.05 a.m. and from Limerick to Waterford at 10.10 a.m. The weekday 9.10 a.m. Cork to Tralee and noon Tralee to Cork services continue through the summmer. In July and August extra Saturday services will operate on the Dublin/Galway and Dublin/Gorey routes.
However, the following Sunday services will not operate during the summer: the 12.45 p.m. Heuston/Limerick, the 5.20 p.m.
Limerick/Heuston, the 4 p.m. Westport/Heuston, the 5.30 p.m. Sligo/Connolly, and the 6.25 p.m. Cork/Heuston.

In the past week six people were killed on the roads. It brings to 21 the number for May so far, and to 155 the total for the year to date. At the end of May last year 163 people had been killed on the roads.
