Dublin: - In the city centre and vicinity there are roadworks on Capel Street, Charlemont Street, Grand Canal Street and South Lotts Road. South William Street will be closed for another two weeks.

There is also resurfacing work on Kilgobbin Road in Stepaside, and the Brennanstown Road is closed in Cabinteely.

A new road layout has been introduced at Artane roundabout and there are ramps on the approach roads. Work is continuing on the bus corridor along Amiens Street as far as Fairview.

There is ducting work on the Swords Road, Botanic Road, and Bridgefoot Street at Ussher's Quay.

Killiney Road is closed until October 11th for road construction work. Mount Pleasant Avenue remains partially closed, with cars being diverted via the Lower Rathmines Road and Richmond Hill.

There is disruption caused by roadworks on the Taney Road at the junction with the Upper Churchtown Road until the end of October. Works continue on Collins Avenue at Malahide Road.

Major roadworks and severe delays continue at Milltown Road/ Sandford Road.

Cork:- There are roadworks on Watercourse Road near Maddens Building. Kyle Street is closed for repaving. Alternative routes to North/South Main Street are via Adelaide Street or Castle Street.

Paul Street is closed until the end of the month, as is a section of South Main Street between Liberty Street and Washington Street.

Limerick:- There are roadworks on the N7 (Limerick-Dublin road) from Sallymount to Daly's Cross for the next five months, with single-lane traffic on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Saturday.

Waterford:- There are roadworks and temporary traffic lights on the main Dungarvan road five miles east of the town at Pike Hill, and at Farran Park in Waterford city.

Meath:- There are roadworks and temporary traffic lights on the N2 at Kilmoone Cross and between Slane and Collon.

For the next three months, there are extensive roadworks on the N3 (Navan road) about one mile south of Dunshaughlin near the County Club.

There is resurfacing on the N4 between Enfield and Kinnegad, and roadworks in Clonee village.

Westmeath:- There is resurfacing on the N4 east of Rathowen village, and there will be diversions until further notice at Ballinafad.

Leitrim:- There are realignment works on the N16 (Sligo-Enniskillen road) about four miles west of Manorhamilton.

Donegal:- There are temporary traffic lights on the N15 just north of the town, and drivers are warned to exercise extreme caution.

Sligo:- Roadworks are under way for the next three to four weeks in the town, with numerous delays.

Rail Information:- The ramp access and exit at Dublin's Connolly Station, beside the Financial Services Centre, is closed, as is the escalator and steps entrance opposite Talbot Street. A temporary pedestrian entrance and exit has been erected at Sheriff Street bridge. (Information from AA Roadwatch)

Nine people were killed on the roads in the week up to September 17th. The September total so far is 26, and the total for the year so far is 315.
