Another busy weekend on the roads is on the cards with tomorrow's second U2 concert in Slane and the Ireland-Holland international as well as the Kerry-Meath clash in Croke Park on Sunday.

DUBLIN

Resurfacing is in place on the Rock Road in Booterstown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Sept 2nd. Benburb Street will be one-way into the city centre between Parkgate Street and Blackhall Place. Luas works: westbound traffic will divert via Queen Street Bridge, Victoria Quay and Frank Sherwin Bridge; Marys Abbey is closed at Capel Street, and Liffey Street Lower is closed at Middle Abbey Street; Chancery Street is closed between Greek Street and Church Street.

The Davitt Road (Grand Canal) will be one way out of town from Suir Bridge to Naas Road junction. Inbound traffic from the M50 should go via the Lucan Road or the Longmile Road from the Naas Road.

Henry Street will be closed between the junction with O'Connell Street and the junction with Jervis Street until September 11th.

CORK

Major delays are likely on the South Ring Road from 7 p.m. tonight until 4 p.m. tomorrow between the Kinsale Road roundabout and Douglas. Diversions are in operation to inbound traffic off the Lower Glanmire Road between Tivoli and Water Street until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be no access to Middle Glanmire Road from Colmcille Avenue for the duration. The Marina is closed between Church Avenue and Pairc Ui Chaoimh until the end of September.

Old Killeagh Road Lower junction (to outside limit of works) is closed until the beginning of October. Road works will continue on the N28 between Shanbally and Ringaskiddy until November. Clashduv Road will be closed between Glasheen Road and Glendale Road until September 5th because of drainage works.

GALWAY

Mary Street will be closed from Upper Abbeygate Street/ Newtownsmyth to Eglinton Street/Francis Street until September 15th. Alternative routes via Bowling Green and Newtownsmyth. Upper Abbeygate Street will be closed from Market Street to Mary St/ Newtownsmyth from Monday, September 17th to Saturday October 13th. Alternative routes via Bowling Green and Newtownsmyth.

WATERFORD

Roadworks are in place on the main N24 Limerick-Waterford route at Greenside in Carrickon-Suir until 2002. Roadworks are also in operation on the N25 at Rathsillagh at least until October.

LIMERICK

Ballysimon Road is closed between Fairgreen Road and Childers Road until September 10th. Diversions are in operation on the Tipperary roundabout. Browne's Quay, New Road Thomondgate and Cashel's Lane are closed until September 21st, for main drainage works; only business and residential traffic will be permitted access.

KERRY

Roadworks on the N22 between Ballycartey Cross and Farranfore until March 2002.

CLARE

Roadworks are in operation on the N18 at the new Dromoland interchange (Latoon Cross). Road realignment works are in place on the Newmarket-onFergus-Shannon road.

ROSCOMMON

Roadworks and temporary lights are in operation on the N5, west of Frenchpark, at Tully between Ballaghadereen and Carracastle.

MONAGHAN

Resurfacing will take place on the N2 in Castleblayney from September 3rd.

DONEGAL

Roadworks on the Glenfin-Ballybofey road between Glenmore Bridge and Dooish National School until December.

The Garda Traffic Bureau reports 257 road deaths for the year to date.
