CORK
A two-way traffic arrangement is in place along the south quays between the Opera House and the Bus Station/Jury's Inn. This project is the first phase of a city centre traffic management scheme and will provide two-way routing between Christy Ring Bridge and Michael Collins Bridge, along Lavitt's Quay, Merchant's Quay and Anderson's Quay.
This route will also provide an important link between the Blackpool By-Pass scheme and the South Link for journeys to the airport, Ringaskiddy, etc.
DUBLIN
Traffic on the N1/M1 Swords Road will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Collins Avenue and the Shantalla Bridge, due to construction work on the Port Tunnel.
Restrictions will apply to different stretches of the road as construction work progresses. There will be no right turn on a daily basis from Monday to Friday from the Swords Road, southbound, to Collins Avenue between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Diversions and sign-posted alternative routes will be as follows: Northbound motorists approaching Dublin from the south/west should use the M50. Motorists travelling from the city should follow the sign-posted route via Finglas Road to the M50 or via Griffith Avenue and Ballymun Road to the M50.
Southbound motorists travelling to destinations south/west of Dublin should use the M50. Motorists travelling to the city should follow the sign-posted routes via Malahide Road, Coolock and Fairview.
Only buses, taxis, bicycles and motorcycles will have access to the slip road southbound from Shantalla Bridge. Extra priority will be given to public transport with three northside QBC routes serving the area.
The Belgard Road will remain closed until December 15th between the lights coming out of the village and the roundabout at the Garda Station. Traffic should divert via Belgard Square.
LIMERICK
Pipelaying works for the Limerick Main Drainage Scheme are in place on the Dooradoyle Road between the Crescent Comprehensive and Huntsfield roundabout. Temporary traffic lights are in operation 24 hours a day, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, until November 24th. Local diversions will remain in place for the duration of the works.
SLIGO
Severe disruption is expected on the Pearse Road (N4) due to sewerage works. The works are continuing until mid-December.
WATERFORD
Vincent White Road will remain closed between 9.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. for roadworks.
Roadworks are in operation on the Ring Road at the Tramore Roundabout.
WEXFORD
Roadworks are underway on the N11 at the south end of Gorey and are expected to continue for at least two weeks.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane and there will be delays in the area.
Road Deaths
Two people died on the roads this week, bringing the death toll for November to 11. So far this year 345 people have been killed in road traffic accidents.
