Police in south Wales searched a property in Newport today in connection with the suspected kidnapping and rape of a three-year-old girl who was snatched from her Cardiff home and found 80 miles away.
A spokesman said police expected to make an announcement around 12pm today about the case after detectives were granted an extra 36 hours on Wednesday to continue questioning three men, aged 26, 34 and 47.
Police said the girl was abducted from her home in the Rumney area of the Welsh capital late on January 1st and was found early on Tuesday after a car, allegedly driven by the 26-year old, crashed near Swindon.
The vehicle was being followed by police at the time and the girl was taken to hospital suffering from what police have described as "significant injuries".
Police are unable to say whether her injuries had been caused by the crash or whether she may have been assaulted.
The two other suspects were arrested in Wales.
