Welsh woman charged with murder of her son

A woman was today charged with the murder of her son following the discovery of his body on a beach.

A woman was today charged with the murder of her son following the discovery of his body on a beach.

One-year-old Jordan Reid was found submerged in water on an outcrop of rocks at Coppet Hall Beach at Saundersfoot, west Wales, on Tuesday. A child's buggy was found nearby.

A post-mortem examination showed he had drowned.

Ms Mirlene Priscilla Stewart (32), of Birmingham, appeared before Carmarthen Magistrates and was remanded in custody.

A statement from Dyfed Powys Police said: "Mirlene Priscilla Stewart appeared before Carmarthen Magistrates this afternoon and was remanded in custody.

"The deceased has now been formally identified as Jordan Reid, Ms Stewart's natural son."

Jordan would have been two on July 30th.
