The Israeli Prime Minister, Mr Ehud Barak, ordered the army to cordon off the West Bank and Gaza Strip yesterday after two bomb attacks.
The Israeli army and security forces were ordered "to immediately implement a number of steps after the serious attacks", including "a complete closure on Judea, Samaria and Gaza", a statement from Mr Barak's office said, referring to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Many Palestinian-ruled towns have been cordoned off by the Israeli army since September, but movement has still been allowed in and out of some areas.
The prime minister's office said the army would continue to "initiate activities in order to prevent attacks that are being planned and executed", and would "continue steps to thwart the enemy's terrorist attacks".
