West Brom striker Lee Hughes was charged today with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident following a car crash in which a 56-year-old man died.
The player will appear before Coventry Magistrates Court tomorrow where he will face the two allegations.
Hughes (27) was arrested yesterday following a collision in Meriden, West Midlands, in which Douglas Graham, a passenger in another car, was killed.
The incident, involving Hughes' silver Mercedes coupe, took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Mr Graham, of Eastern Green, West Midlands, died instantly.
His wife, also a passenger, suffered a broken leg and was taken to Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital for treatment.
The male driver of the Renault suffered a broken pelvis and another male passenger suffered bruising.
West Bromwich Albion said yesterday that Hughes would not be taking part in tonight's match against Cardiff City.
