Leinster SFC; Westmeath 0-16 Wicklow 1-10:Mick O'Dwyer's Wicklow men passed up a glorious opportunity to overthrow Division One opposition at O'Connor Park in Tullamore this afternoon, failing to take their chances against Westmeath before losing out in extra-time.
The Division Four side were marginally the better team in a close contest that finished level in normal time after a 72nd minute point from Westmeath’s Fergal Wilson.
Wilson then added another two among five points for Westmeath, while Wicklow, a spent force by this stage, could only manage two.
Laois 1-15 Louth 1-11:At O'Moore Park, Laois did the damage in the first half but allowed Louth to come too close for comfort after the break.
A goal from Pauric Clancy and points from MJ Tierney, who scored six in total, helped Laois into 1-09 to 0-04 lead at the break.
The homeside extended that lead early in the second half but Louth kept at it.
Substitute Aaron Hoey hit the net with 10 minutes remaining and they had some hope, but had ultimately left themselves with too much to do.
