Miami - Miami-Dade County's election canvassing board will meet at 3 p.m. EST (8 p.m. Irish time) today to rehear Democratic Party objections to its decision not to conduct a countywide hand recount of presidential ballots.

Fort Lauderdale - Broward County's election canvassing board resumed hand recounting yesterday and expects the count to take three more days from today.

West Palm Beach - Election canvassing board in Palm Beach County, where there are allegations of widespread irregularities, met yesterday and was awaiting Florida Supreme Court instruction before beginning a countywide hand count which could take five days.

Tallahassee - Word was pending from Leon County Circuit Court on Democrats' request to enforce Circuit Judge Terry Lewis's earlier ruling. This was that the Florida Secretary of State, Ms Katherine Harris, could not act in an arbitrary or unreasonable manner in deciding whether to reject updated tallies from hand-counted ballots. Word was also pending from Florida Supreme Court on a request from counties to clarify whether hand recounts should proceed.

Atlanta - Word was pending from 12-member US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on Bush campaign's and Republican voters' request to overturn Miami and Orlando federal court refusals to halt hand recounts. The court has given officials in four Florida counties until 7 a.m. EST (12 p.m. Irish time) today to file summaries of their recounts.
