A round-up of some of the events taking place around the country this weekend
EUROvision Football Song Contest
The EUROvision Football Song Contest takes place on Saturday night at 8pm at The Grand Social on Liffey St, Dublin 1.
Pedal To Poland, a group holding a 14-day charity cycle from Dublin to Gdansk in aid of Arthritis Ireland, Headstrong and Renewable World, are holding the fundraising event.
The best song on the night will be chosen as the group's theme tune for the trip to Euro 2012. The night will also feature Al Foran, comedian, in the guise of Ronnie Whelan. pedaltopoland.com
Galway Early Music Festival
The Galway Early Music Festival takes place this weekend in Galway city to celebrate the performance of traditional and high art medieval music.
Tomorrow Andrew Lawrence-King and the Harp Consort will perform Fantasia y Folia at 8pm at St. Nicholas Collegiate.
On Sunday evening at 6pm, Coracle will perform Interlace & the Otherworld at the 16th century Tower House, Aughnanure Castle. Tickets will cost €18 for adults and €7 for under16's at both events. galwayearlymusic.com/
Seol Sionna Launch and Boating Festival
The Seol Sionna Launch and Boating Festival takes place in Querrin Co. Clare this weekend.
Tomorrow currach racing begins at 2.30pm at Querrin Pier followed by the Sean Scéal Sionna pageant and ending with the Parade of Sail at 5pm in Carrigaholt fishing village.
Festivities continue in Carrigaholt on Sunday starting at 11am with the Kilcredaun Heritage walk followed by yacht racing at 1pm. The Sean Sceal Sionna pageant begins at 4pm, followed by more music and activities in the evening for all ages. seolsionna.org/
Dylan Thomas Literary Weekend
The Dylan Thomas Literary Weekend is taking place in the Falls Hotel Spa Resort in Ennistymon, Co. Clare. The weekend consists of lectures, readings and a historical tour of the town of Ennistymon.
