Dublin householders can look forward to the introduction of wheelie bins later this year after the corporation's cleansing staff voted by two to one to accept the latest productivity package.
The wheelie bin system, which is now operational in all the other major local authorities in the State, is scheduled to begin in October but the final say rests with the city council.
Under the agreement refuse collection crews will be paid an extra £40 a week from October 1st. The extra allowance is the equivalent of a 13 per cent increase. They have accepted a reduction in crew sizes from one driver and four collectors to one driver and two collectors.
