Marty Whelan resigned from his post as manager of the Media Monitoring Unit in the Department of the Taoiseach on January 28th. On Wednesday, he was briefing on behalf of the ATGWU, stating how it found the pay increases agreed at the Partnership talks "totally inadequate". Senator Joe O'Toole of the ICTU team was less than pleased. "This is a classic case of game keeper turned poacher," he said. "He was based in the Taoiseach's department and now he is working against the agreement negotiated by that department with the social partners and trying to undermine it."
