The curate of a certain church in the North of Ireland, who happened to be a bachelor, had just preached an eloquent sermon on the duties and responsibilities of married life. While his parishioners were wending their way home after the service, they discussed the advice which had been given them. One woman, who was accompanied by her husband and half a dozen children of various ages, was asked by a neighbour: "What did ye think of the sermon. Maggie? Isn't he the grand preacher?" "He is that," replied Maggie "but all the time I was listening to him I couldn't help thinking that I wished I knew as little about the matter as he does."
