THE widow of the former sales director of Cassidy Wines who was killed in the Eastbourne air accident in south-east England in November 1984 was awarded £275,000 by the High Court yesterday.

Mr Cormac Cassidy (35) was one of nine people killed in the crash. There were no survivors. They were taking part in the then annual Beaujolais Nouveau race between Dublin and France.

His wife, Ms Maria Cassidy (37), of Taney Rise, Dundrum, Dublin, had sued Flightline Ltd, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin, under provisions of the Air Navigation and Transport Acts.

From the total sum, the judge approved separate payments to Mr Cassidy's two sons. A payment of £35,509 was made to Gavin Cassidy (16) and £37,488 to Emmet Cassidy (13).
