SFC qualifiers:Last year's beaten All-Ireland finalists Down were given a scare by Leitrim in their SFC qualifier at Páirc Esler Newry but rallied when it was needed to progress into the third round.
Benny Coulter was the difference for Down, scoring seven from play, and inspiring eight unanswered points after Leitrim took the lead early in the second half.
The homeside had led by two at the break after Marty Clarke’s penalty in the 15th minute. However, Adrian Croal’s goal two minutes after the restart saw the visitors sneak into the lead.
The response was impressive from Down, though, and they eventually secured and eight-point 1-16 to 1-08 win with some ruthless finishing.
Antrim 1-13 Carlow 2-09: At Casement Park, Antrim edged out 14-man Carlow by the narrowest of margins.
Daniel St Ledger scored three before the break to keep Carlow in touch and the trailed by one at the break.
They took control when Pat Hickey hit the net in the 36th minute but substitute Paddy Cunningham kept the homeside ticking over.
Mark Dougan then moved them back in front in the 54th minute and it got worse for Carlow as Ed Finnegan saw red for an elbow on Gerard O'Boyle.
The latter added a beautiful point from the sideline as Antrim took control and they held on despite a late goal from Brendan Murphy in the 67th minute.
Limerick 3-13 Offaly 0-15: Limerick coped comfortably with the absence of nearly a third of their first choice XV to see off the challenge of Offaly at the Gaelic Grounds.
The homeside were without midfielder John Galvin, Stephen Lucey, Mark O’Riordan, Jim O’Donovan and Eoin Joy but led for the majority against Offaly, who were dreadfully inaccurate in the first half and paid for it.
After 18 minutes, Limerick were eight points up having hit the net through Ian Ryan and Seamus O’Carroll. Ger Collins also got an early point and Ryan claimed his third in the 20th minute when his effort on goal skimmed the crossbar.
Offaly responded with three unanswered points that came among a flurry of wides, before Ryan stopped the rot. Veteran Ciarán McManus, however, was leading the fightback and brought Tom Cribbin’s side right back into the game from deadballs.
Niall Darby then closed the gap to three at the break.
McManus made it a personal mission to reel Limerick in but again his teammates were wasteful.
Limerick’s crucial score came in the 63rd minute when Collins buried the ball and Offaly after being put through by Stephen Kelly.
Eoin Hogan and Ryan added the gloss for a place in round three.
London 0-13 Waterford 1-17:At Ruislip, Waterford were seven-point winners over London, who ended the game with 13 men after Paul Geraghty and Ciaran McCallion were sent off.
