Soccer:Dundalk maintained their lead at top of the Airtricity Premier Division with a 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers as St Pat's kept the pressure on with a 3-1 home win over Bohemians.
Bosnian striker Faz Kuduzovic scored Dundalk’s winner at Oriel Park to also deny his former club.
Ross Gaynor fired a cross in from the left as Sligo skipper Danny Ventre’s indecision allowed Kuduzovic to seize possession and smash home what turned out to be the winner after 56 minute.
St Pat’s eventually ran out comfortable winners after an entertaining game at Richmond Park.
Jason Byrne put Bohs ahead on 11 minutes but Derek Doyle, Paul Byrne and Stuart Byrne all replied for Pat’s before the break.
The win came with a sour note though as Pat’s lost the influential Gareth Coughlan to a broken leg.
International team manager Giovanni Trapattoni and assistant Marco Tardelli were interested spectators for most of this Dublin Derby and both sides turned on the style for the duo.
The Italians arrived after 24 minutes of action, having made a dash across the city following the Senior team’s friendly 2-0 win against Gerry Smyth’s amateurs.
