MEXICO CITY - A reputed witch has charged that Mr Raul Salinas, the older brother of Mexico's former president, Mr Carlos Salinas, threatened her and ordered her to scatter human bones on his ranch, Mexican newspapers said yesterday.
The accusations were made in a court document. The soothsayer, Ms Francisca Zetina Chavez, known as "La Paca", reportedly said Mr Raul Salinas threatened to kidnap her daughter if she did not bury the remains on his ranch.
Mr Salinas allegedly made the threats from prison, where he is being held on various charges including murder. "La Paca" has been jailed along with eight accomplices on grave robbing and other charges.
The Mexico City Attorney General, Mr Jose Antonio Gonzalez, said on Tuesday that Mr Pablo Chapa Bezanilla, the man in charge of investigating Mr Salinas on the murder charges, paid money to people suspected of rigging evidence against Mr Salinas.
