Witness sought to serious Dublin assault

Gardai appealed for witnesses today to a serious assault which left a man in a critical condition in hospital.

Gardai appealed for witnesses today to a serious assault which left a man in a critical condition in hospital.

The man, who is described as of Latvian or Lithuanian origin, was assaulted at Harbourmaster Place in the IFSC in Dublin city centre shortly after 10pm on Friday, August 11th.

The man remains in a critical condition in the Mater Hospital following the incident.

He is described as being in his mid-40s with short brown hair. He is around 5ft 10ins tall and heavy set. He was dressed in black trousers, black shoes, a black shirt and a grey/blue jumper at the time of the assault.

Gardai said his name may be 'Dimitri'.

Officers are seeking a man believed to be in the vicinity of the IFSC at the time and who may have witnessed the incident to contact them. He is also believed to be Lithuanian or Latvian, in his mid 50s, of small build and has a moustache.

Gardai appealed to anyone with information on the assault or the identity of the two individuals to contact gardai at Store Street or ring the Garda Confidential Number 1800 666 111.
