A man has told a jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that he was informed by a garda that Mr Michael Godfrey, a man allegedly kidnapped and murdered by Peter Judge in April 1993, was an IRA supergrass.
Mr Paul Carwood, himself falsely imprisoned with Mr Godfrey, told the court that following the incident he was told by Det Garda Tony Whelan not to identify either of the two men involved because he would be shot.
Mr Martin Dunne (43), of Collins Drive, Finglas, has pleaded not guilty to the false imprisonment of Mr Godfrey (55) and Mr Carwood (29) on the North Circular Road in Dublin on April 3rd, 1993. Mr Carwood told Mr Michael Durack SC, prosecuting, that he made a number of complaints to gardai about threats against him and his family following the night that Mr Godfrey was murdered in a field in Scribblestown Lane in Finglas.
The trial continues.
