Two young men died in road traffic incidents in Co Mayo and Co Wexford at the weekend.
Separately, gardaí in Co Donegal have appealed for witnesses to a crash in which a man was seriously injured.
A 19-year-old man was killed after the car in which he was travelling hit a wall and entered the water in Courtown Harbour in Co Wexford at about 10.30pm on Friday. Two other occupants of the car swam to shore, but the man was taken from the water by emergency services and pronounced dead. His body was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital for postmortem and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination. Gardaí in Gorey are seeking witnesses.
A man aged 21 died when the car in which he was travelling crashed at Clooneshil, Co Mayo, at 3.15am on Saturday. Peter Dominic Claydon, Achill Road, Newport, was taken to Mayo General Hospital and pronounced dead. A young female passenger was injured and is recovering. Westport gardaí appealed for witnesses to contact them at 098-25555.
A man aged 34 was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital after a single-vehicle crash on the Drumkeen to Stranorlar road at Ballinaglack at 9.40pm on Saturday. Two other men in the van were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
