Gardaí in Kilkenny have appealing for witness to a serious crash which has left one person in a critical condition in hospital.
The single-vehicle collision occurred on the N9, the main Carlow to Kilkenny road at about 3.30am.
The incident occurred near the village of Clara (in an area known locally as 'the Fox and Goose’.
Gardaí said the three occupants of the car (all men in their early 20s) were taken to St Luke’s Hospital, where one passenger is believed to be in a critical condition.
The main N9 road is currently closed for technical examination and traffic diversions are in place.
Gardaí advised motorists to take extreme care when traveling in the area, as road conditions are "treacherous".
