Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the accident on the Naas dual-carriageway which resulted in the death of a cyclist shortly before Christmas. A detective garda has been questioned about the accident.

Mr Gerard O'Neill (36), from Clondalkin, died at about 2.40 a.m. on Monday last, December 22nd, after colliding with a car on the stretch of road between the M50 roundabout and Newlands Cross. Gardai are particularly anxious to speak to anyone who saw Mr O'Neill travelling between Drumcondra Road and the Naas Road. He was riding a pink and white mountain bike and wore a blue two-tone jacket and a yellow reflective belt.
