Woman assaulted in Mayo raid

Gardaí in Mayo are investigating an aggravated burglary in which a woman was assaulted.

Gardaí in Mayo are investigating an aggravated burglary in which a woman was assaulted.

Two masked men entered the house in Charlestown at about 11.15pm last Friday, March 1st.

They are believed to have been armed with knives, a Garda spokesman said.

They asked the only occupant of the house, a woman, the whereabouts of her partner. She was assaulted a number of times but her injuries were described as not serious.

The raiders then left the house. No property was stolen and it is not known what mode of transport the men used.

Gardaí say one of the men was 183cm (6ft) in height and wearing a red/green jacket. The second man was wearing a dark tracksuit but gardai said there was no better description of him.
