A YOUNG woman who fell and suffered head and other injuries taking part with about 50 others in a tour company organised “pub crawl” during a holiday in Kos, Greece, eight years ago has taken a High Court action for damages against the company involved.

Ms Lisa Moran, now aged 28, of Castle Park, Tallaght, Dublin, claims she slipped on liquid on a pub floor in Kos in August 2000, resulting in a cut to her forehead requiring seven stitches.

Plastic surgery to remedy the damage would cost some €4,500, the court heard. Ms Moran claims the company involved – Falcon Leisure Group (Overseas) Ltd, trading as JWT Holidays – failed to properly select the bars to be visited and she claimed negligence and breach of duty.

The company denies the claims and its counsel, Michael Byrne SC, said yesterday they would call evidence to say Ms Moran was attempting to climb on to the bar counter at the time of the fall in a bid to dance on it.

Ms Moran denied that suggestion in evidence and also denied she was inebriated. She said she had consumed six drinks and was “totally in charge” of the situation.

The hearing continues today.
