Woman cyclist dies in Dublin hospital

A woman who was seriously injured when she fell from her bicycle in Dublin on Saturday died in hospital last night.

A woman who was seriously injured when she fell from her bicycle in Dublin on Saturday died in hospital last night.

Gardaí said the cyclist, who has not yet been named, died shortly before 8pm in the Mater hospital.

She was admitted after suffering severe head injuries in the incident at the junction of Conyngham Road, Parkgate Street and Infirmary Road between 3.30pm and 4pm last Saturday. A passenger she was carrying on the bicycle was uninjured.

Gardaí at the Bridewell station yesterday renewed an appeal for witnesses to the incident. In particular, they wish to speak to the drivers who were stopped at traffic lights on Infirmary Road turning onto Conyngham Road.
