A young mother of four children shot while sitting in a van died from gunshot wounds to the head and body, an inquest heard yesterday. Ms Christina Hackett (30) from St Finbarr's Road, Cork, was shot in Wellington Road in Cork last October 9th.
A man in his 30s was arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and questioned. But he was released without charge and a file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who is still considering the case.
Insp Barry McPolin applied to have the inquest adjourned as the issue of criminal proceedings had yet to be decided.
The Cork City Coroner, Dr Myra Cullinane, agreed to the request and adjourned the inquest until June 22nd.
