A woman has died after when she was struck by a bus near the bus station in Cork city centre this evening.
The incident happened at 4.57pm as a bus was arriving at the depot from North Cork hit the woman on the Parnell Place side of the depot.
The middle-aged woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardai have closed off the area to allow crash investigators examine the scene
Gardai have appealed to anyone who may have been in the Parnell Place or Merchants Quay area and witnessed the accident is asked to contact Anglesea St Garda Station on 021-4522000.
