Warm tributes have been paid at the funeral of a young Limerick woman who died at the weekend three years after being seriously injured in a road crash.

Ms Niamh Keane (22), died suddenly at her family home at Castletroy, Limerick. She narrowly escaped death when a jeep in which she was a passenger crashed near Jury's Hotel in Limerick. She had been left paralysed from the neck down.

Friends who attended yesterday's funeral Mass at Monaleen Church in Limerick, said they were devastated when they learned of Niamh's sudden death.

"She had a great family and friends, and her paralysis did not stop her getting around in her wheelchair. Her great spirit brought her through the last few years of her life," said family friend Ms Geraldine Le Gear.
