Gardaí have arrested a man after a woman was found stabbed to death at a house in in Athy, Co Kildare.
The body of the 31-year-old woman was found shortly after midnight at Michael Dooley Terrace, after gardaí were called to a disturbance at the house.
The dead woman was named by family members as Breda Cummins. Orginally from Celbridge, Co Kildare, she was the mother of a 13-year-old boy.
A 48-year-old man has been arrested and is being detained at Kildare Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A postmortem examination will be carried out on Ms Cummins' body at Naas General Hospital.
