An elderly woman seriously injured when hit by a Garda patrol car in Dublin yesterday is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit in Beaumont Hospital this morning.
The woman in her 70s was transferred from St Vincent's Hospital to Beaumont, which is the National Centre for Neurosurgery.
The woman was hit by the Garda car - which reportedly had its siren on - on a long bend outside the Vergemount hospital, Clonskeagh, shortly before 4pm.
Witnesses said the woman was crossing the road when she was struck by the car. The impact threw the woman through a bus shelter. The Garda car then collided with the bus shelter, pulling the roof down.
