A woman in her 50s was left with a serious face wound after she was attacked in public toilets in Belfast yesterday evening.

A woman in her 50s was left with a serious face wound after she was attacked in public toilets in Belfast yesterday evening.

She was assaulted by a man in toilets at Coles Alley off Church Lane in the city centre at around 5pm.

A man, believed to have been armed with a knife, was seen running from the scene in the direction of Anne Street.

He is described as aged in his 20s or 30s and wearing a black jacket and black jeans.

Police said the woman suffered a substantial face wound in the incident and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
