A MOTHER and daughter were charged at a special court sitting in Galway late last night with trespassing with intent to steal at the home of murder victim, Mr Tommy Casey (68), whose body was discovered at his farmhouse in Oranmore, Co Galway, on January 23rd last.

Before the court was Mrs Kathleen Connors (55) of 14 Greenfields, Newcastle, Galway, and Ms Alison Connors (21) of Lurgoe, Killenaule, Co Tipperary, who faced the charge of entering Mr Casey's home at Oranbeg, Oranmore, on January 15th last with intent to steal.

Garda Sgt PJ Durkan gave evidence of arresting Mrs Connors at her home last night. She was also charged with burglary at the house of Ms Teresa Burke of Oranmore between December 10th and 20th and with stealing £3 there in. She had made no reply to both charges.

Sgt Tom Costello gave evidence of arresting Ms Connors at Mill Street Station, to which she had replied that she had nothing to say.

The two were remanded in custody by Judge John Garavan to appear at Galway District Court on Monday next.

. Meanwhile, a teenage girl arrested on Wednesday in Galway under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act has been released without charge.

The girl was detained at Mills' Street and questioned about crimes committed in the Oranmore area, but not Mr Casey's murder.

The girl who lives in Galway is from Co Tipperary.
