Two Slovak women pleaded guilty in a District Court yesterday to brothel-keeping in a self-catering cottage adjoining a Killarney hotel complex in Co Kerry last month.

The women were “self-employed” and there was no question of trafficking, the court was told. Silvia Szelepcesenyiova (20), and Simona Bruienicova (20), both from Bratislava, Slovakia, had more than €8,000 when arrested on May 26th, within days of checking into the cottage. Judge Olan Kelleher said the matter carried a maximum sentence of six months in jail. He imposed a fine of €850 each.
