The National Women’s Council has announced the appointment to its board of an African woman and a woman from the Travelling community.
Salome Mbugua, chief executive of the African women’s network Akidwa, was elected as deputy chair while Tessa Collins, domestic violence co-ordinator with Pavee Point, was also elected to the board. Clare Treacy of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, was elected as council chairwoman.
