A construction worker has died from injuries he received when scaffolding collapsed at the site of the new Jury's Inn Hotel in Milton Keynes, England.
Last Tuesday afternoon, 15 floors of scaffolding collapsed at the building site and the construction worker was one of three people injured.
The man, aged 49, who has not been named, died in hospital on Saturday evening.
A spokeswoman for the British Health and Safety Executive said they were informed on Saturday that a man had died.
The executive is currently investigating the circumstances leading to the collapse. "We will continue to work with the police," the spokeswoman said.
The Transport and General Workers' Union, had called for "a full and tough inquiry to see who is at fault".
Witnesses described hearing a groaning sound before seeing tonnes of metal and wood crashing down "like a pack of cards" at the site, which is in a busy commercial area.
While three people were injured, up to 200 others had what was described as a "miracle" escape.
Some workers apparently leapt through windows and others missed the collapse as they were on their lunch-break.
Following the incident in Witan Gate East at 12.30pm on Tuesday, Neil Parkinson, chief pilot for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire air ambulance, said when they arrived there had been "four storeys of debris and planks of wood", with people trapped on top of it and within it.
He said there had been "some tremendous stories of luck and good fortune".
The three-star 279-bedroom hotel was to have opened in June.
A Thames Valley Police spokesman said the man died on Saturday evening at Milton Keynes General Hospital.
"The coroner has been informed and a postmortem examination will take place," he added.
