Workers staging a sit-in at the La Senza lingerie chain in Dublin’s Liffey Valley centre have ended their protest after receiving assurances from the company’s administrator KPMG.
Mandate, the union representing the workers, said it received a letter from KPMG this evening and they outlined the contents to staff a short time later.
“At a meeting after 5pm, the contents of this letter were communicated to the La Senza workers and they were satisfied with what KPMG had to say and then decided to end their sit-in,” divisional organiser, Michael Meegan said.
A total of 114 employees in the chain’s eight outlets and concession stores in the Republic were made redundant on Monday after the multinational chain went into administration.
Most of the workers were notified that their contracts had been terminated only when they turned up for work on Monday.
