Delegates from around the world are participating in an international heritage conference at the Castlebar campus of the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology this weekend.
Seventy speakers will take part in "Ireland's Heritages: Critical Perspectives on Consumption, Method and Memory". They are mainly academics from a broad range of disciplines.
Today's proceedings began with guest speaker, Prof Gregory Ashworth, University of Groningen,asking: "Is Heritage, a Globalisation of the Local or a Localisation of the Global?"
Dr Stephen Royle of Queen's University, Belfast chaired a session on "Consuming Heritage".
