Socialist party wins Portuguese election, nationalist party sees big rise in seats

Portugal’s centre-left Socialist Party, led by prime minister Antonio Costa, has won a third straight general election. Meanwhile, the far-right Chega party are now the third largest in Portugal, after they saw a rise from one seat to at least 11.

US and Ukraine sign minerals deal

US treasury secretary Scott Bessent announced the deal on X, saying it “signals the Trump Administration’s commitment to a free, sovereign, prosperous Ukraine."
