Mitt Romney, the Republican US presidential nominee in 2012, told a meeting of donors on Friday that he is considering another White House run in 2016, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Donors present at a meeting in New York told the Journal the former Massachusetts governor did not give a timetable for making a decision about whether to launch what would be his third presidential campaign.
Mr Romney failed to win the nomination in 2008. He lost the general election to US pesident Barack Obama in 2012.
Last weekend Republican Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, announced that he was ending his cable talk show and would make a decision about a presidential bid this spring.
Last week former Florida governer Jeb Bush resigned from all of his corporate and non-profit board member positions as he explored a run for the White House for the Republicans.
