Firefighters in California have rescued a woman who was stuck in the chimney of her former partner's home on Saturday.

The 35-year-old woman was reported stuck at about 5 am in the house in Woodcrest, after Tony Hernandez, her former partner and father of her children could hear her calling him.

According to ABC7 news, Mr Hernandez said he nearly fell off the roof trying to rescue her, and that's when he called 911.

She had reportedly taken her clothes off so she could fit more easily down the opening.

Firefighters spent 2 hours trying to free the trapped woman, who was treated for minor injuries in hospital.

According to CBS Los Angeles, Mr Hernandez said that he didn't want her at the house, and that she isn't allowed to be around their children.

“I don’t like the way she’s acting or what she’s doing. That’s not good for my kids.”
