Riverdance II anyone? The past few years can't have been easy for Anuna maestro Michael McGlynn, watching former collaborators Bill Whelan and Moya Doherty conquer the world. But things are looking up - the traditional vocal group recently signed to Universal Music classical offshoot Gimmel and a new album, Deep Dead Blue, goes on release next month. If the reaction to an absolute barnstorming performance at the National Concert Hall on Wednesday night was any indication, Anuna could soon be as popular as its clod-stomping counterpart. The presence of British classical impresaraio Jasper Parrott was especially significant. Was he impressed? Oh, very - so much so, he spoke of taking McGlynn aside during the aftershow bash to plan some grandiose "international" projects. All together now - WOW.
